CORPORATE POLICIES & STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION

It is the policy of MCBARONS ENGINEERING SERVICES LIMITED to carry out business in an ethical and socially responsible manner that guarantees efficient, effective, safe, cost-effective
and quality provision of good hygiene and Environmental standard that meets and exceed where possible, the expectation of our client and the host community.

The management of MCBARONS ENGINEERING SERVICES LIMITED is directly involved in the effective implementation of set policies and the objectives. These are done through the following:
* Communicating policies and objectives to all staff at different levels of job operation.
* Mandating all staff working in the establishment to know their roles in carrying out these policies.
* Review of these policies and objectives periodically to ensure their continuity and suitability in environment monitoring and safe environment upkeep.
* Periodic setting of operational goals and targets for the performance/evaluation of staff.
* Application of internal control measures.
* Strict supervision to ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative standards.
* Documentation of process activities and results for performance measurement and corrective actions.
* Good journey management system in place
* Good contingency plan in case of emergencies.
* Incentive scheme for complaint staff.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT
In McBarons Engineering Services Limited our watch word is safety.Therefore the conditions and environment under which our workers operate are of paramount importance to the Company.
This in effect means that operations carried out in such a way that predisposes accidents are prevented and where it is not practicable to remove all hazards, employees who are exposed
are protected. In line with this, the Company operates a Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Policy and Quality Control Manual.

MCBARONS ENGINEERING SERVICES LIMITED SHALL CARRY HER DUTIES, RESPONSIBLY AND SAFELY IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOVERNMENT AND INTERNATIONAL LAW IN ALL ITS AREAS OF WORK.

GENERAL POLICY
MCBARONS Procurement and Engineering activities will be planned and executed in such way as to:

* Avoid injury and preserve the health and safety of it’s own employees, those of it’s Contractors and any member(s) of the public involved in its activities.
* Minimize the impact on the environment in which MCBARONS operates.

Every MCBARONS employee must plan and perform his or her day’s work in accordance with HSE policy. An activity MUST be suspended when the employee believes that it cannot be carried out in accordance with the policy and he or she must report this immediately to the Supervisor. This means that in McBarons Engineering Services Limited operations in engineering, construction and general contracts are carried out in such a way that conditions which predispose accidents are prevented, and where it is not practicable to remove all hazards, employees who are exposed are protected.

Proper attention will be paid to Safety, Health and Environmental conditions at the place of work and as far as practicable ensure its freedom from risks and diseases. Management will follow up and recognize practicable recommendations in pursuance of this Policy. Above all, all applicable regulations and statutory requirements imposed upon practitioners in the Engineering Construction Industry shall be observed and complied with. In laying down this policy which is centered on the preservation of human life and property, I have the firm belief that the co-operation of all is expected to assist in delivery of a safe project, carried out without bloodshed or loss of any employee.

It should be of note that this HSE MS Manual is made out in reference to the Safety Requirements of the Nigerian Industrial Law and SPDC in particular. It is thus applicable to all other client’s safety needs.

ORGANISATION OF HSE MS IN McBarons Engineering Services Limited
INTRODUCTION:
HSE MS and ISO 14001

HSE MS is the Management tool used in carrying out the “care activities” where the Health, Safety and Environment is programmed for every staff of the Company to be aware of through the committed involvement of the Management, passing down to the least staff in the Company via line managers and supervisors and communicating the expediency of the matter to the supervised. HSE MS stand for Health, Safety and Environment Management System. It is a quality management system for managing risks within the Company, to assure the protection of the Company’s people, assets, reputation and for protection of the environment the Company operates within. Incorporated in the MCBARONS HSE MS are the means to meet the requirements of the MCBARONS HSE and Community Statement, HSE Policy and HSE Commitment, including those of continuous improvement and compliance with the law.

The purpose of any management system is to ensure that the activities of a company are planned, carried out, controlled and directed so that the business objectives of the company are met. It should have an ‘improvement loop’ in it’s construction, following the Plan-Do- Check-Feedback steps of any quality system. The MCBARONS HSE Management System, which has been adopted meets these requirements and, in addition, includes the ‘hazards and effects management process’ (HEMP) not normally found in quality management systems. For specific activities and assets it may be necessary to develop additional sets of controls where it is considered that the framework provided by the Company HSE MS is in-sufficient. In
this case, an HSE sub Management System shall be developed by the assets or activity manager to provide the required level of control. This HSE MS management system will be complimentary to the Company HSE-MS. It shall be documented in an HSE MS manual. In the following, the abbreviation HSE MS will be used to refer to (sub) Management Systems are well as to the corresponding manuals.
